Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data when you use our website, contact us, purchase tickets via one of our ticketing partners, appear in event recordings, or interact with embedded media, analytics, and marketing tools.
1. Hosting and server logs
Our website is hosted by a European entity of Squarespace. When you visit the site, standard server logs are processed (IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer, user agent, status code) for security and operations.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (berechtigtes Interesse an stabiler, sicherer Bereitstellung)
Retention: typically 7–14 days before deletion or anonymisation.
2. Cookies and consent management
We use a consent management platform to control non-essential cookies and external services. Your choices are stored to document consent.
Legal bases:
Non-essential services and cookies: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (Einwilligung)
Documentation of consent: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. c DSGVO in Verbindung mit Art. 5 Abs. 2 DSGVO (Rechenschaftspflicht)
Cookie list: The detailed cookie declaration from our CMP (Cookiebot) is displayed on this page below this policy.
3. Contact forms and email
If you contact us, we process the details you provide (for example name, email, subject, message) to handle your request.
Legal bases: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO (vorvertragliche Kommunikation) und Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (Interessenabwägung)
Retention: We retain emails for as long as needed to handle your request and for documentation purposes, and for as long as statutory retention requires it (regelmäßig 6 oder 10 Jahre, § 257 HGB, § 147 AO). You may object or request erasure at any time. We erase where no statutory duties or overriding interests apply.
4. Ticketing via Universe
Ticket purchases are handled by our ticketing partner Universe. Clicking a ticket link on this site takes you to universe.com, where the purchase is completed under Universe's own privacy and cookie policy. For events in Germany, Universe states the responsible controller is Ticketmaster GmbH, part of the Live Nation Entertainment group. As the event organiser, we receive the attendee and order details needed to manage entry and show logistics.
Legal bases: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO (Vertragserfüllung) und Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (Betrieb der Veranstaltung)
Transfers: Universe processes data within a group that includes entities outside the EEA, relying on Standard Contractual Clauses or Binding Corporate Rules.
Retention: transactional data as required by German commercial and tax law.

Other ticketing and booking platforms. Tickets to our shows are also sold through third-party ticketing, tour, and activity platforms, including Eventbrite, Viator, GetYourGuide, Fever, Eventim, and Musement. Where you book through one of these platforms, your purchase is completed on that platform and is governed by that platform's own privacy policy. Each platform is responsible as a controller for the data it collects from you.
As the event organiser, we receive from these platforms the attendee and order details we need to admit you to the show and manage the guest list. Where a platform is based outside the EEA, or transfers data outside it, that transfer is covered by that platform's own safeguards.
Legal bases: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO (Vertragserfüllung) und Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (Betrieb der Veranstaltung)
Retention: transactional data as required by German commercial and tax law.
5. Email newsletter and marketing communications
Newsletter subscriptions. If you sign up to our newsletter via the website form, we process your email address through our email provider MailerLite to send you updates about upcoming shows, podcast releases, and community news. Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (Einwilligung). Retention: until you unsubscribe. You may withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly.
Marketing consent given at ticket purchase. If you opted in to receive marketing from Epic Comedy Berlin when buying a ticket through Universe, our ticketing partner, we process your email address to send you updates about our shows, podcast releases, and community news. Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (Einwilligung). Retention: until you unsubscribe. You may withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.
Our email platform is MailerLite (see Section 9 on recipients and transfers).
6. Analytics and marketing (only with consent)
With your consent, we use the following analytics and marketing services on this website:
Google Tag Manager, which loads and manages the tags listed below.
Google Analytics 4, to understand how the site is used.
Google Ads conversion tracking, to measure whether an advert led to a ticket purchase.
Meta Pixel, to measure and target our advertising on Facebook and Instagram.
These services are provided by Google Ireland Limited and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, and may involve processing by their parent companies in the USA. They run only after you give consent in the cookie banner, and you can withdraw that consent at any time using the cookie settings.
Where you have consented to analytics and marketing cookies, an identifier from our analytics setup is passed to our ticketing partner's domain (universe.com) via the link you click, so that a purchase can be attributed to the visit that led to it. Without consent, this does not occur.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (Einwilligung)
Transfers: see Section 9 on recipients and international data transfers.
7. Embedded content
We embed media players such as YouTube in privacy-enhanced configurations where possible. Playback or loading third-party embeds will only occur after consent in the banner.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (Einwilligung)
Review widget. On some pages we display a widget from Trustindex that shows reviews we have received on platforms such as Google and Tripadvisor. The widget loads from Trustindex servers, which means your IP address and browser information are transmitted to the provider. The widget loads only after you give consent in the cookie banner.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (Einwilligung)
8. Event recordings (video, photo, audio)
At our shows we record video, photo, and audio to create short-form and long-form clips for our website and official social channels. Audience appearances may be incidental or recognisable in crowd shots. Our Terms of Service include a filming notice and an opt-out protocol for close-ups at the venue.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (berechtigtes Interesse an Dokumentation und Kommunikation unserer Events und Marke)
Takedown requests for published clips are reviewed case by case. Where feasible we may re-edit or blur. Complete removals across all platforms or third-party shares cannot be guaranteed.

Hosting and infrastructure: Squarespace

Review widget: Trustindex
Some providers may process data outside the EEA, for example in the USA. In such cases we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses under Art. 46 DSGVO and implement supplementary measures where necessary.
10. Retention

12. Your rights
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection to processing based on Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO. You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
