This Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data when you use our website, contact us, purchase tickets via our ticketing partner, appear in event recordings, or interact with embedded media, analytics, and marketing tools.
1. Hosting and server logs
Our website is hosted by a European entity of Squarespace. When you visit the site, standard server logs are processed (IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer, user agent, status code) for security and operations.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (berechtigtes Interesse an stabiler, sicherer Bereitstellung)
Retention: typically 7–14 days before deletion or anonymisation.
2. Cookies and consent management
We use a consent management platform to control non-essential cookies and external services. Your choices are stored to document consent.
Legal bases:
Non-essential services and cookies: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (Einwilligung)
Documentation of consent: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. c DSGVO in Verbindung mit Art. 5 Abs. 2 DSGVO (Rechenschaftspflicht)
Cookie list: The detailed cookie declaration from our CMP (Cookiebot) is displayed on this page below this policy.
3. Contact forms and email
If you contact us, we process the details you provide (for example name, email, subject, message) to handle your request.
Legal bases: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO (vorvertragliche Kommunikation) und Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (Interessenabwägung)
Retention: We retain emails for as long as needed to handle your request and for documentation purposes, and for as long as statutory retention requires it (regelmäßig 6 oder 10 Jahre, § 257 HGB, § 147 AO). You may object or request erasure at any time. We erase where no statutory duties or overriding interests apply.
4. Ticketing via Eventbrite
Ticket purchases are handled by Eventbrite. Eventbrite processes your data for order fulfilment and fraud prevention. We receive attendee and order details needed to manage entry, seating, and show logistics.
Legal bases: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO (Vertragserfüllung) und Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (Betrieb der Veranstaltung)
Retention: transactional data as required by German commercial and tax law.
5. Email newsletter and marketing communications
Newsletter subscriptions. If you sign up to our newsletter via the website form, we process your email address to send you updates about upcoming shows, podcast releases, and community news. Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (Einwilligung) Retention: Until you unsubscribe. You may withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly.
Follow-up communications to past attendees. If you previously purchased a ticket to an Epic Comedy Berlin show via Eventbrite, we may send you a single follow-up email inviting you to join our newsletter. This email is sent via MailerLite. We do not add you to our newsletter list as a result — the email contains a subscribe link, and only those who actively click to subscribe will be added. Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (berechtigtes Interesse an der Pflege einer Geschäftsbeziehung mit ehemaligen Veranstaltungsbesuchern) You may object to this use of your data at any time, including via the unsubscribe link in the email. We will not contact you again. Retention: Email addresses used for this purpose are deleted from MailerLite after the send, unless you have actively subscribed to the newsletter.
Our email platform is MailerLite (see Section 9 on recipients and transfers).
6. Analytics and marketing (only with consent)
We may use tools such as Google Analytics 4 and marketing pixels such as Meta Pixel and Google Ads. These services only run after you give consent in the banner. They may involve processing outside the EEA.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (Einwilligung)
Transfers: see Section 8 on international data transfers.
7. Embedded content
We embed media players such as YouTube in privacy-enhanced configurations where possible. Playback or loading third-party embeds will only occur after consent in the banner.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (Einwilligung)
8. Event recordings (video, photo, audio)
At our shows we record video, photo, and audio to create short-form and long-form clips for our website and official social channels. Audience appearances may be incidental or recognisable in crowd shots. Our Terms of Service include a filming notice and an opt-out protocol for close-ups at the venue.
Legal basis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (berechtigtes Interesse an Dokumentation und Kommunikation unserer Events und Marke)
Takedown requests for published clips are reviewed case by case. Where feasible we may re-edit or blur. Complete removals across all platforms or third-party shares cannot be guaranteed.
